The Audience

A sensational concert by the renowned African Children's Choir attracted a massive audience, estimated at around 750 strong, which packed into Alyth Parish Church on Sunday 12th June 2005. Just a month into a six month tour of the UK and hot foot from a concert in Glasgow's Royal Concert Hall the evening before, the 25 orphaned children aged from seven to eleven years moved and mesmerised the audience with their singing and dancing in a mixture of African and western styles. A staggering £5,300 was collected during the interval for the choir and its Music for Life projects in various parts of Africa.

The children and their leaders stayed with host families from within the congregation for three nights.
This same choir performed for Nelson Mandela earlier in the year and at the Live8 concert in Hyde Park, London in July 2005.
